Burdur's new investment power: High genetic capacity cattle breeding

Burdur is entering a new era in livestock farming with an investment in breeding high genetic capacity cattle.

Within the scope of the Ministry of Industry and Technology's "Local Development Initiative Incentive Program," one of the 324 investment areas identified in 81 provinces is being implemented in Burdur. Among the investment titles determined in line with the province's dynamics and potentials, "Integrated Breeding of Cattle with a Minimum of 1000 Heads of High Genetic Capacity" has been announced as a priority area in Burdur.

This strategic investment will be carried out in collaboration with Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, a specialized university in the field of livestock. Our university, which stands out as the only university in Turkey licensed to produce and transfer embryos, will provide the most critical scientific infrastructure for this investment through its Embryo Transfer Center.

This model, where cattle with high genetic yield will be bred, will create significant added value not only for Burdur but also for Turkey in general and in terms of exports. The combination of our university's scientific competence and the investment power of the private sector will provide sustainable momentum to the regional economy.

This development is considered an important example of universities with a regional development mission guiding local development programs and supporting sectoral transformation. At the same time, we would like to share with the public our great satisfaction as a university for having brought such a strategic investment to Burdur in the process carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

While the export of genetically superior cattle from Burdur to all over our country and abroad is targeted, this investment will also elevate our university's livestock studies to a much stronger point; academic knowledge will transform into economic value.

With this incentive, the breeding of high genetic quality cattle will become widespread in our province, and the sector will move towards much higher value-added production.

The strong business investments to be made will also provide a ground for the effective implementation of all projects in the field of livestock at our university.
